Tonight the Mets host the Rockies, however, the game will not be the highlight of the evening for many of the fans. Prior to the game, Mike Piazza will be honored for being inducted into the Hall of Fame in the class of 2016.
He had an amazing career, playing his debut game on September 1, 1992 and his last on September 30, 2007. He played for many teams over the years; the Dodgers, Padres, Athletics, Marlins, and of course the Mets. In his acceptance speech, Piazza said that his time as a NY Met, “was the most amazing experience any human being could have.” He also spoke about the fans saying, “No fans rock the house the house like Mets fans. You are passionate, loyal, intelligent, and love this great game.”
During those 15 years, he had impressive stats: 427 HR (47th), .308 BA, 1335 RBI (95th), C/1B, 1993 Rookie of the Year, 12 x All Star.
Tonight you will be honored at Citi Field, and we will forever honor you in our hearts! Thank you!!!
